Choosing Life over death

So yesterday in Church the priest was reading out the notices and he said that lets all get together and show our support against the new bill which gives people the right to end their life if that is thier choice. Which was basically the stand taken by the church (I assume it came from higher orders) that if someone is suffering and wants to end his or her suffering when they know that they can't get any better, then they cannot!
Now I know some of you might say that it is like legalising Suicide, but then this is not the same. Here it clearly states that if there is an elder who is unwell, then they have the right to euthanasia. Now I think that is purely fair. If you have a terminal disease and you KNOW that you will only keep on suffering if you go on with the medication, then would you not want the choice of ending your life? I mean you are already suffering, you are wasting your money on medication, you know that IF you do recover then you will not get back to a normal life... then should you not have the right to end your life? Provided it is your decision and not any others?
But then I also feel that others, like family members should have the right to decide if the patient is not conscious. Having gone through personal experience, I think it is only fair that this bill/rule be passed and it should come to effect.

I would like to hear your point on this...

Some Like it WET!!

Like it WET!!

This morning I was standing and watching my car getting a nice high pressure wash down and as it was standing there, in all its glory… I suddenly realized how beautiful my car looked!! Its colour was standing out, the glasses was shinning and the colours on the break light cluster was really standing out! And I said WOW!! Just a little bit of water and see the difference!! Now don’t get me wrong, we have had the car for 3 years and I have NOT stopped loving it at any point in time, but I just realized how beautiful it looked… when I saw it all WET!!
This got me thinking, that this concept is true for MOST things in life! I mean you guys would agree with me that a Girl looks her best with her hair wet… and you women would agree with me that vegetables look fresh when sprinkled with water!! (you naughty people.. you thought I would say a wet man na..) So ya, water is the basic ingredient that makes things look sexy and beautiful! Hey, maybe that’s the fountain of life!! Maybe WATER is the solution to all our problems!! I read a mail sometime back educating me on the benefits of water! (have found the mail and have put it below)
So ya, at the end of the day, maybe we need to have more water in our lives.. either on us or in us… either ways we will look beautiful!!

WATER

#1. 75% of people are chronically dehydrated.

#2. In 37% of people, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of dieters

#5. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubbleaway the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

Michael Moore Movies

Hey!

So they were showing this movie Sicko by Michael Moore on Star Movies yesterday afternoon, which is about the health care scenario in the US. Right throughout the movie, he was drawing comparisons between the way America treats its people and how other countries treats its sick and unhealthy. The basis of the movie/documentary was that in almost every country outside of the US (London, France & Canada) has free health care, so if you fall sick then you have to pay through your nose to get treatment. In fact, the movie showed a few cases where a couple of kids had died in America as their parents employers did not cover the medical condition they had.
What stood out through the movie (for me) is that how one sided the entire movie was. Right through the movie, they were only showcasing how great the other countries are and how they treat their people soo nicely etc. (I don’t know how much of that is actually true) As I watched it, I started developing hatred towards America (but that’s ok, I didn’t like the country anyways) but somewhere down the line, I realized that the entire movie was shot such that you feel hatred towards the US on purpose. This got me wondering, is this the right way to make a movie? I mean I know that mostly movies express a particular point of view or have a message, which mostly the view point of the makers of the film, but when you are making a kinda documentary, is this fair?
This, for me, casts doubts on the documentary 9/11 which showed George W. Bush to be a dumbF%@#. I am sure those who saw that movie reaffirmed their faith that George W. Bush was the worst President in recent times. And he won an Oscar for it as well!

Really makes you draw parallels with cinema here in India with cinema abroad. While both have a story to tell, how they tell and how receptive the audience are differs a lot!

Back to work... but what to do!

Yes, despite repeated warnings, I went to work today. (Repeated warnings that I should rest after having malaria) I went to work as I was kinda bored at home done nothing. I slept all I could, I watched as much TV as was possible... so I said I need to get to work..
Work was not as much as I would have liked it to be... You see, we are in a transition period so things were a little chill at work. So I am done with work and looking to head home in a little while. I was (and still am) hungry but i didn't know what a Malaria patient can or cannot eat, so I took another litre of water and filled my stomach. (it didn't help, I am still Hungry)
So now I am looking forward to practises which should start soon. I must tell you that the Salvation Singers should be singing at St. Peter's Ground on the 27th of March in aid of the amazing Dilkush school. So do come, we are aiming to build aware n raise a lil money as well.

Heading home now.. got unwanted guests coming over...

Down for the Count!

I think by now it is public news that I was down with fever(Malaria) So after staying at home for 4 days (including Sat & Sun) I have finally driven myself online to escape from boredom!

It is surprising how a small bug smaller than my little fingers’ nail, can cause a big man to be out of action for days… It is no wonder that Discovery Channel as well as the Gunnies Book of World Records calls it the World’s Most Dangerous Animal! Just because, in places like Africa and Rural parts of the world, malaria has killed millions till date! And all this is caused by a Female Mosquito! I’ll bet this would be the only place where people will be happy with a low sex ratio!!

So how was it staying at home for all those days? Well as a kid, I would always look forward to that Thursday in the week, coz that was the day we got a holiday from school. I would look forward to lazing around, going down to play or go to Worli Seaface on my bike (read: cycle) just to have fun and relax! Then when I started working, I would look forward to the Saturday, as that was the day to unwind, relax and distress… Sundays was always busy with Church and Badminton etc…
But HOW much of relaxing and distressing can you do for FOUR days!! Man it was too much! Okay, the 1st day I slept quite a bit, as I needed that… the second day I caught up with music and my guitar… the third day I was tired of sleeping and my fingers were kinda hurting… I secretly wished I hadn’t given back Lorraine my book, I was already half through it… the fourth day was oooohhhhh ggggooooddddd!!! I know the doc has said to take rest and I did get weak and all from the medication, but hell I am going back to work tomorrow man.. this is just too much!! I have slept enough to NOT get sleep in the nights, I have watched enough TV to know that Nat Geo and Discovery repeat the same programs during the week, but at different timings and I am pretty sure I have done significant amounts of observation on the mating habits of pigeons!!
NO MORE PLEASE!!!

So ya.. next time you see a mosquito, be sure to kill it no matter what your religion says or PeTA or anyone else… KILL THOSE BUGgers!!
